the purchase of a larger, more capable, 5 axis CNC Robot Router.

When the new Robot machine was delivered in 2002 operations were moved to the current factory in Silverdale. The company has since been restructured as Styrotech CNC Limited and has expanded to three large CNC robots, with a new staff structure ensuring faster and more economic solutions to customers along with superior customer service.

Recent developments in project management systems as well as material preparation techniques have dramatically reduced lead times and greatly improved laminate quality to ensure that minimal post preparation is required to all components.

Whether it be precision profile cutting of MDF and Plywood, 5 axis sawing and engraving or complex GRP tooling, Styrotech CNC Ltd have forged a name as industry leaders for contract CNC services.

Styrotech CNC: a Brief History

The Styrotech brand was launched by founder and owner Kevin Trotter in 1984 to manufacture and market the polystyrene core competition windsurfer hulls Kevin had been designing and building since 1981. An early adopter of CAD (Computer Aided Design), Kevin began using the now industry standard Maxsurf naval architecture and ship construction software to design windsurfers (and boats) in 1985.

In 1995, after much research, Kevin ordered his own CNC Router and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) software and after delivery in 1996 pioneered the full 3D shaping process. In 1997 the newly named Styrotech CNC machining operations were moved to a small factory in Panmure.

Production was diversified to include windsurf fins, and molds and patterns for boat building. By 1999 increasing demand for CAD CAM tooling, principally in the composite (fiber reinforced plastic) boat building industry, forced a move to larger premises nearby and
